Palestine, Bethlehem, Original gold mosaics once covered the walls of in the nave of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem in the Occupied West Bank. The original basilica was built in 339 A.D. over the Nativity Grotto which is the traditional birthplace of Jesus. It is the oldest continuously used place of worship in Christianity. It was destroyed by a fire about 529 A.D. but was rebuilt before 565 A.D. A UNESCO World Heritage Site.
